Video: Airbrushed Birthday Cake
Buzz Lightyear Themed Fondant Airbrushed Birthday Cake!:
This cake began life as a yellow vanilla butter cake with an icing of vanilla and almond buttercream. Craters were pressed into the top layer for the moon effect and then the entire cake was airbrushed with outer-spacey colors. To finish the scene off, the cakeboard itself is layered with fondant and airbrushed too. The figurines, in this case, were not custom sculpted. To save a bit of time and cost some little plastic toys were used. As you can imagine, the birthday boy, just turning 1 year old, was delighted.

Very pretty, I never realized so much work went into decorating birthday cakes. The cake in this video looks more like a piece of art work than an edible food. What is the food coloring made from? Do they come in fully organic varieties without too many additives? I’m only asking this, because it’s a cake made for children and many parents may have the same questions.
